What’s trending in 2017?

element1

The festive season is always an amazing time to get engaged. Celebrating love with family and friends at a bonfire on the beach, or with champagne on a rooftop bar overlooking city lights… Whichever way love was bestowed over the last few months, 2017 is a new year and a new season ushering in a host of new trends. It’s the perfect beginning to an exciting year if you will be planning your special day.

Each year brings different ideas on how to have a fabulous wedding day and we have some notes for you on what will be trending in 2017.

leaf

We start with Greenery, Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017 – a perfect complement to our first wedding trend for 2017 – greenery. 2017 weddings will have less flowers, opting instead for leafier pieces in arrangements & centerpieces. Focus on foliage! Be sure to make use of natural surroundings, settings and elements as well, and save costs with strong statement greens rather than flowers.

If you still prefer floral arrangements, then loose, wild looking, fresh-from-the-garden and dramatic bouquets or arrangements are suitable. Support locally grown and seasonal (also a tip on saving when it comes to flowers).

For colour palettes,

neutrals are the perfect base for any season and style. Back to the basics then with varieties of creams, greys, blush pinks and nudes. These colours create an elegant and luxurious atmosphere, shaping your special day into a fancy affair. And if you like, add a splash of wild colour to let your personal style stand out. By the way, metallics have not left yet. We saw metallic colours make a statement in 2016, and the trend continues. So to put a lovely edge to your wedding, incorporate metallic elements such as sequenced runners or centerpiece elements

Adding an extreme case of luxury such as marble is my favourite. Incorporate this trend in your stationary, crockery, cake, or decor.

Vintage & Bohemian are joining forces to create the trending style for 2017. The Vintage style has come and gone, yet somehow it has forever been on some brides’ wedding mood boards. Vintage has probably always been around because of the romantic atmosphere that it creates. And since weddings are no longer a stiff and formal affair, Bohemian represents the free flow and fun aspects of any celebration. A simpler outlook on love…

It’s all about showing off the shoulders. Thanks to Rolene Strauss for looking ever gorgeous, and setting tone to this beautiful design. Plunging V-necks are bringing sexy back and as odd as it may seem, capes are also something to be worn.

Make your wedding tech savvy.

Social media has been the tool for talking for a long time. Celebrate your day with friends and family by getting them to share all the spontaneous moments, and little details captured, on social media. That way you will get so many more pictures and posts that might not have been captured formally, showcasing just how fun your wedding was. Happy Planning!
