About Petra Knoetze Photography

I’m a part-time photographer, a full-time mother of a gorgeous little boy and baby girl and a wife to my farmer husband.  We live on a sheep and cattle farm in the Kalahari desert, 130km North of Upington.  It is a very simplistic lifestyle, but I LOVE it and would not change that for anything – I have the best of both worlds!

I completed a 1year course in photography at the Stellenbosch Institute of Photography and Multimedia Studies in 2004.  After that I did a two year 3D animation course at the Animation School in Cape Town. After finishing my studies I worked as a 3D-designer in Cape Town for a year after which I moved to Upington and worked as a graphic designer for two years, before I married the love of my life and moved to the Kalahari!

I am passionate for my family, spending quality time together and treasuring each other. Making memories that will last a lifetime is my motto in life! Photographs are such an important part of making those memories, that is why I love the job. I have a natural and relaxed approach when capturing your photos and the same with my editing style.  I love working with natural light. I have been in the photography industry for 7 years and I am looking forward to many more to come!
