2018 Wedding Trends?
2018 is well underway, and as May is already coming to an end, one can’t imagine that there is any time left to plan your special day in 2018. It just seems that time is passing by too fast.
Trends always kick off with a colour to set the tone to any event, and this year the Pantone Colour of the Year is Ultra Violet. An intense colour that initiates drama and mystique. In all honesty, I think Ultra Violet is extremely bold, but if you are one to be extravagant then go for it. If Ultra Violet’s bold notes scare you, you can subtly incorporate it and other dramatic colours within your wedding, by touches of softer hues of floral, your seating plan, menu cards or a signature cocktail.
Since we are on the dramatic front, foliage is still going strong. But this year we can expect to include some dark and dramatic florals, something that is moody (perfect for including some ultraviolet/dark colours). Hanging floral installations is also a top trend still running from 2017.
Adding to the theme of drama is coloured candles.
And taken together, the above-mentioned cohesion sums up another trend for 2018 – the Bohemian theme. Playing compliment to the theme is the free-spirited wreath or corsage instead of a bridal bouquet.
My favourite trend for 2018 is what I call the ‘blank canvas venues.’ Venues offering much to the imagination – open spaces and non-specific details. Venues that offer you the opportunity to create your own masterpiece – a blank canvas upon which to perfect every aspect of your dream wedding. This is well accentuated with translucent touches (love!) – from your invitations or ghost chairs, to a tent. Portray your personality!
Traditional weddings are long gone, so feel empowered to incorporate unconventional extras into your special day; food trucks, games and entertainment, gin/cocktail bars and much more left to your imagination.
